Happy National Chemistry Week!

This Week is National Chemistry Week!  Dive into ‘Picture Perfect Chemistry’ and explore the fascinating science behind photography!

Chemistry is essential in the creation of photographs and images. Photography relies on photosensitivity and light-induced reactions. The chemical process that forms a traditional photograph begins within the camera, where photons are absorbed.

With medical imaging, we can see inside the human body. X-rays, CT scans, and MRIs all allow us to take better pictures of our bodies to study disease and enhance patient care.

Unfortunately, many essential chemistries used in X-ray film to identify internal injuries are at risk. Team Chemistry has led multiple campaigns this year to help protect these chemistries and ensure they remain available for use.

This week, discover how chemistry helps make our world better, and take a moment to share the wonders of science with those around you!
