Celebrating Women’s History in Science
March 13, 2025
As we celebrate Women’s History Month, let’s take a moment to recognize the trailblazing women who have made significant contributions to the field of chemistry and beyond. These women have helped drive innovation and solved some of the world’s most pressing problems, from developing sustainable solutions to creating life-saving medicines.
Did you know that since 1901, the Nobel Prize has been awarded to 65 women in various fields, including chemistry, physics, medicine, literature, peace, and economics? These women have broken barriers and paved the way for future generations of scientists, writers, and leaders.
In chemistry, women like Marie Curie, who won two Nobel Prizes, and Dorothy Crowfoot Hodgkin, who discovered the structure of DNA, have made groundbreaking contributions to our understanding of the natural world. More recently, women like Carolyn Bertozzi and Emmanuelle Charpentier have developed innovative methods for genome editing and click chemistry.
Team Chemistry, we hope that this month you can learn more about women in chemistry and the impact they have made!
