February 2025 Newsletter

Dear Chemistry Advocates,

It’s been a busy February, with bill introductions, hill and agency engagements, and lots of learning about chemistry in modern life!

We’re looking forward to March and all it brings – but first, let’s look back on the highlights from this past month..

Welcome the NO IRIS Act!

Team Chemistry recently welcomed the introduction of the No IRIS Act by Senator John Kennedy and Congressman Glenn Grothman: legislation that aims to ensure regulatory decisions are based on transparent, objective, and high-quality scientific evidence, fostering a more competitive and innovative chemical industry in the U.S.

The bill could:

  • Help the U.S. Maintain a Competitive Edge in Manufacturing
  • Maintain our National Security and Prosperity
  • Make an Economic Impact by Unlocking an Industry that Supports 4 Million Jobs

Growing chorus supports repealing harmful tax on manufacturers

Groups like the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Americans for Tax Reform have joined us in supporting legislation that would repeal a tax that’s targeted American manufacturers since 2021.

These taxes are affecting chemical supply chains and markets and continue to increase costs for consumers and businesses. An IRS hearing affirmed their impacts on industries including fertilizer, farming, energy production, and manufacturing.

We’re telling Congress to pass this critical bill, and YOU can help.

Chemistry in Space – NASA event

We were honored to collaborate with several agencies and NASA for a recent visit and roundtable at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. This event focused on enhancing transparency for critical chemistry in the supply chain to ensure mission success and mitigate risks due to emerging regulations.

Together, we discussed challenges and solutions. Thank you to all our participants for a productive and insightful event!
